A Young Person Confronts Her Drinking Buddies To Uncover More Information About Alcohol Abuse And Alcoholism
Heather drank on a usual basis with her buddies. One Monday after all her classes were completed, she began thinking about the amount of alcohol she drank during a typical week and the excessive drinking of her friends. As a consequence of this, she politely asked all of her buddies the following question: "what do we really know about binge drinking, alcohol abuse, alcohol poisoning, and alcoholism? Stated another way, how much alcoholism and alcohol abuse information do we honestly know? For our age, we certainly drink in a hazardous and excessive manner and I am really starting to wonder if all of us are headed for a life filled with alcohol-associated problems in the near future.
I believe that we need to go on the Internet and find out all we can about alcohol abuse, alcoholism, binge drinking, and alcohol poisoning. And then if we have any relevant issues that we cannot comprehend after we do our online research, we can go to the student health center at the college and ask Nurse Sydney to help us understand what we cannot comprehend.
It should not come as a complete shock that what Heather said would start a heated discussion. For example, her best friend since the second grade, Alexis, stated that they are too young and too healthy to be concerned about hazardous and irresponsible drinking. Another drinking buddy named William believed that since most teenagers drink there is no logical reason why they should be any different. Another friend named Ana stated that all she wants to do is to have fun drinking with her buddies. And still another friend named Lawrence in truth agreed with Heather mainly because his parents were both alcohol abusers and both of his parents had a history of alcohol related difficulties.
Heather openly mentioned to her pals that she understood everything that they had said but that engaging in excessive and hazardous drinking at such a young age in reality cannot be very healthy or something that contributes toward developing a meaningful life. When a few of her friends asked what kind of alcohol difficulties Heather was discussing, Heather articulated the following: alcohol-related diseases such as heart disease, cirrhosis of the liver, and cancer and other alcohol-related problems like alcohol-related traffic accidents and fatalities, alcohol poisoning (which can be fatal in some instances), and alcoholism.
When Heather then mentioned that careless and excessive drinking frequently results in school, relationship, financial, and legal problems, some of her drinking buddies finally started to understand how extensive and how unhealthy careless and excessive drinking can be. To be sure some of her friends became more open and began talking about how these alcoholism and alcohol abuse effects had affected their parents and some of their friends.
After under scoring some of the alcoholism and alcohol abuse problems that are related to irresponsible drinking, the vast majority of her drinking friends seemed to like the idea about getting information on the Internet. They were, however, apprehensive about discussing their drinking behavior with anyone at school. As Heather thought about this she told herself, "at least they are open to finding out more about their drinking behavior. This is a great start."
