A Bouncer At A Private Disco Finds Out Why Alcohol Overdose Symptoms And Signs Can Save An Individual's Life
Just a week ago, Ryan applied for a job as a bouncer at one of the local discos. He had studied aikido, judo, karate, ninjitsu, and gatka for twelve years; he was a body builder; he took daily supplements, vitamins, and minerals; he was into health foods and healthy eating; and he seemed well matched for such a job. When Ryan got notice that he had been picked for the job, he was very happy. Since this was a private nightclub, nevertheless, he had to go through a three week instructional class.
On the first day of class, the lecturer started talking about drinkers who drink too much and what the barmaids, bartenders, and bouncers should do when this situation arises. When the lecturer started discussing alcohol poisoning, Ryan was delighted to learn that all of the new barmaids, bartenders, and bouncers had to learn about an alcohol overdose and precisely what they should do when they spotted an individual who was exhibiting alcohol poisoning symptoms or manifesting the signs of alcohol poisoning.
More precisely, all the new bartenders, bouncers, and barmaids were instructed that nausea and vomiting were almost without exception one of the first signs of alcohol poisoning and that unconsciousness was perhaps the most highly observable alcohol poisoning sign or symptom. The teacher went out of his way to highlight the fact that alcohol overdose symptoms were signals from the body and from the brain that the person had consumed more alcohol than his or her body can process.
There were, however, more than a few other signs and symptoms of alcohol poisoning that all the new barmaids, bartenders, and bouncers were taught to be conversant with. For instance, the members of the class learned that individuals with alcohol poisoning exhibit confusion, exhibit poor reflex responses, often have seizures, and they are difficult to awaken.
Furthermore, the class members learned that many drinkers who experience alcohol poisoning also display slow, shallow or irregular breathing; slurred speech; blue tinged or pale skin; and little response from painful stimuli, for instance from pinching.
To exemplify the influence that binge drinking has on alcohol poisoning, the lecturer explained to the class members that a person who gets smashed once or twice every year is, by definition, engaging in abusive drinking. Such a person, however, is most likely not alcohol addicted, but is most likely engaging in binge drinking. As stated by the trainer, engaging in binge drinking even once, regrettably, can result in an alcohol overdose that in extreme cases can be lethal.
The teacher then explained to the students in the class that the most fitting response for alcohol poisoning is the following: if it is suspected that an individual is suffering from an alcohol overdose, call 911 and ask for immediate medical assistance, even if the drinker is underage. By following this plan of action, the drinker will get the prompt alcohol poisoning medical attention he or she needs.
After learning about alcohol poisoning and especially about the symptoms and signs of alcohol poisoning, it may be pointed out, Ryan realized that he had learned some crucial information that might save a person's life in the foreseeable future. Indeed, Ryan learned that knowledge of the frequently occurring alcohol poisoning signs and symptoms and knowing how to quickly and appropriately react to such symptoms and signs (by immediately calling 911 and asking for emergency medical assistance) can help a drinker avoid a deadly alcohol overdose.
